The End of Sex

We don’t have to close the door. We can be as loud as we want.

A couple (Emily Hampshire, Jonas Chernick) realise they haven’t had sex in a very long time so try a few different things to rekindle the passion in their relationship.

The performances are all really good here but the screenplay does let it down a little - some of the jokes are just “it’s funny because she’s doing a gay thing but she’s not gay”. That plus a ‘whooa we did drugs’ scene just dates the whole thing, even though it’s only a couple of years old.

I did like the side characters, particularly the work colleague (Lily Gao) and I wish they’d fleshed them out further.

It’s quite a middle of the road comedy that follows all the familiar beats you might expect, but it made me laugh once or twice and that’s always enough to get the thumbs up from me.
