Gravity

Clear skies with a chance of satellite debris.
01 March 2014

Predictably, this didn’t have much to offer upon second viewing. I stand by the first conclusion I came to; strong visuals, weak script.

This is by all measures a solid film, and of course a real acheivement on a technical level. However, it’s what wasn’t there that stuck out at me. This had the potential to be a classic, and it just isn’t. The setting is so unique. The actors are more than competant. Why on earth (or space) would you just settle with a flimsy storyline about what happened ‘back home’?

I wanted something profound to come out of this. All I got was a cheap thrill.
