Everybody Wants Some!!

A glimpse into the lives and antics of a college baseball team, three days before a new academic year.

This is devoid of plot, conflict or drama; there is no story arc whatsoever. We follow a group of room-mates (and team-mates) as they navigate the weekend before school starts, and it’s almost a blow-by-blow account of a series of parties and drinking sessions. Nothing ever gets crazy and no one ever gets in trouble. One person in the cinema walked out, and there were only three of us in there so that’s a big percentage drop!

That guy missed out because Everybody Wants Some is one of the best releases I’ve seen all year. Linklater somehow captures pure joy and fun on camera, puts it to a great soundtrack and makes two hours feel like twenty minutes. It all feels so real and you just don’t want it to end.

Perhaps this is a like-it-or-loathe-it film, but I think I just saw a minor masterpiece. A must-see.
